TRAINED AT TEAM CFS
COMPLETED 2021
What were you fighting for? What was your ‘why’?
"My journey started back in 2020, with Series 1 at Team CFS in Kirrawee, with my husband. We both enjoy being active as we have and still compete in a number of different sports. I had never done any form of martial arts and was always interested in it, so after my husband came across this on a feed and suggested we do it for a new experience. I thought this would be a great opportunity to be exposed to BJJ, Wrestling and Kick Boxing, all whilst pushing the level of my personal fitness and being made to step out of my comfort zone. So many great people of all walks of life turned up and our little Series 1 family started. All was going great, when the first wave of COVID hit, so instead of being a 20 week program it was significantly extended. Upon the reopening of Team CFS and being granted to return to training, I then broke my toe, however the finale was never to happen due to further COVID lock downs. 2021 arrives and I commit to series 2 at Team CFS. I experience a concussion whilst playing soccer and fear I won't be granted clearance for the finale. The week of the finale, COVID decides to interrupt the 20 week training program again and putting a halt to the finale. This turned out to be a blessing in disguise as it gave me time to recover and return to training for the lead up to new date of the finale. The finale in 2021 finally happened on the 11th Dec and although I came second, pushing through COVID being the constant threat of making it all come crushing down, recovering from concussion, it was truely an awesome experience from start to finish. I won't lie, there were some days that when that alarm went off, and it was cold, wet, dark and training outside with no team mates, bed seemed like a better choice. They were the times the commitment of Team CFS, other team mates and constant pep talks, made you showed up. I would highly recommend this program to anyone of any age, fitness level or ability. It will make you question yourself, take you out of your comfort zone, but in all honesty it is something that everyone should do. You will realise you are stronger in mind and body than you ever gave yourself credit for. Yes, I plan to be back training and competing in 2022. "
What did you get out of the program physically?
"I got to meet great people in both the competitors and coaches, increased and improved my fitness, strength, mind set and lost weight as a bonus."
What were some of the mental and emotional outcomes you experienced?
"I think one of the best things I obtained was that "I can" and it is not so scary to step out of your comfort zone."
What did you learn about yourself?
"I learnt that I am stronger than I thought I was in both mind and body."
Did Warrior Training lead to any long term changes in your life, and if so what were they?
"Long term, the effects are that I will continue training at Team CFS and improving on my MMA skills, I will be returning to the 2022 program to see where the journey will take me this time."
What would you say to someone thinking about starting the Warrior Training Program?
"Just do it, you have nothing to lose and everything to gain."
