What were you fighting for? What was your ‘why’?

"Close to a decade I’ve been working in an industry which took me away from myself. Each passing year I became more disconnected to myself from the previous year. All I loved and enjoyed had dissipated from my life and I continued to make decisions which would leave me further astray. Polysubstance abuse, mental health issues, loneliness, financial issues and the inability to put my heart on the line. But each and every day I longed for more. A fan of the sport and the willingness to disconnect and tackle my internal wars brought me to Alta. Among all the fears and doubts, it did not compare to the thoughts of continuing down the path I was walking. I knew at the end of the day, successful or not, I’d be proud of myself for trying. I did not anticipate the profound affect on my life it’d have."

What did you get out of the program physically?

"My physical transformation was incredible. I’ve always been a tall, thin man - built for middle distance running as I did in my younger years. Though struggled immensely with gaining and holding weight. The program brought my body together. I not only gained muscle tone by a few kg’s (which was my objective) but I’ve retained the healthiest weight of my life."

What were some of the mental and emotional outcomes you experienced?

"For me each morning was an hour of practising mindfulness. This allowed me to quiet my demons and start my day with a clear head. My mental health has been deteriorating me since I was a teenager. Training became my therapy and this led me to seek further professional help. Inevitably, I made further changes in my personal life during the program."

What did you learn about yourself?

"I learnt how much resilience and grit I possess. I learnt to put my heart on the line. I learnt I still have vast love and happiness in my life and I can rely on myself."

Did Warrior Training lead to any long term changes in your life, and if so what were they?

"During the program I decided to start changing careers as my (at the time) full time job was a negative factor in my life. I’m now working in the industry I love, self employed, and am making a difference in peoples lives. I’m happy. I have also fallen in love with MMA, still training and looking for my next opponent. Lastly, I’ve gained control of my financial position and on the road back to being financially stable."

What would you say to someone thinking about starting the Warrior Training Program?

"You are capable and you will not anticipate the affect it will have on your life. This is a great favour you’ll be giving yourself and I want updates every step of the way."
