No matter if you have won or lost, you will have gone through a very peak experience and you will need to take some time to recover from this both physically and mentally. The rest you need to take after the 20-Week program has been well earned and it will be up to you to decide if you want to continue training on a casual basis or maintain a 5 day per week training schedule.
A rough guide to forming habits states that it takes around two months for a habit to form, which you would have surpassed during the course of the 20-week training program. During that time you would have woken up early in the morning to make it to training and then engaged in healthy physical exercise and positive social interactions with your fellow warriors. Since that habit is formed, you will not want to let the benefits you have gained from the experience to completely dissolve away. Keeping a routine in some form will be the best way to keep these positive effects in your life.
You have shared a unique experience with your fellow warriors over the course of the 20-week training program, with plenty of emotions, highs and lows. You may find that these people have become your friends and may be the one of the few people that will relate to how you feel after the completion of the program. It’s worthwhile staying in touch with them and reaching out for a conversation. Your coach will have had a view of your entire journey and will be happy to hear from you to talk about what you went through together. The trainalta team love to stay connected and hear how your training is progressing after the program.
Joining a class at the gym who have been training at and making that part of your routine will help you maintain the healthy habits you have built and avoid the sudden shock of going from training five days a week down to zero. Instead, picking up a few weekly classes can help ease you into a more regular training pattern of a couple of times per week.
If you found one element of the MMA training program more enjoyable than others, for instance you preferred striking over grappling or vice versa, then you can consider beginning to take a regular class in the individual art. As MMA is such an all-encompassing sport, you may find it easier and more enjoyable to only focus on one specific area of the sport rather than training the entire sport since you have done so for so long.
If you want to stay involved with the Alta 20-Week training program asking your coach if you can assist on a future series is a great way to further your interest in MMA. Many Warriors feel that the camaraderie they have built during the program was the most valuable part of the experience and they can continue to experience that merely by helping out with other contestants without the need to complete the full program over again.
